Distractions in Prayer

30th October 2021

2:45pm-4:25pm via Zoom

It is a great advantage for us to be able to consult someone who knows us, so that we may learn to know ourselves..

St Teresa of Avila

Distraction in prayer is one thing that everyone struggles with in their prayer. Hence, there are whole techniques that are used for stilling the mind but these are temporary “fixes”. The fundamental question, however, is what meaning do distractions hold for our prayer and the spiritual journey as a whole? This presentation will explore St Teresa of Avila’s insights to the places in the interior life and how they alert us to the meaning of our distractions, what they are saying to us and how welcoming this “word of God” can lead to inner transformation.

This online talk will help you discern and become more aware of distractions in your prayer life and how to tackle it.
