Online Triduum Retreat to Our Lady Of Mount Carmel 2021
13th July – 15th July

“All of us who wear this holy Carmelite habit of Mary are called to prayer and contemplation. This is our vocation. We are descended from those holy fathers of ours on Mount Carmel, those who went in search of that treasure – the priceless pearl of God’s friendship. ”
St Teresa of Avila

I will bring them to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; for my house is a house of prayer for all the peoples.”
~ Is 56:7a,c

This invitation to prayer constitute the vocation of Carmel in the heart of the Church.
The image of the mountain is central to the understanding of this prayer as a journey of intimacy with God whom we know loves us.
The powerful expression of joy – as Teresa of Andes puts it – is the fundamental character of the Carmelite vocation of Prayer. In Mary – Queen beauty of Carmel – is found an embodiment of this joy as the foundation of prayer. Her Song of Praise (Magnificat) stands as a powerful witness to the reality of this joy.
This treasure entrusted to the Carmelite Family for the church includes all: the secular members, the nuns as well as the friars.
In this retreat, the fullness of communion within the Carmelite family will shine forth in splendour with Mary the Mother of Jesus. She will teach us the way of sustaining intimacy with God in prayer and to share the joyfulness of God to others. Here we find the beautiful hymn sung on the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel expressing the sentiment of this retreat: “draw us after you, Virgin Mary, that we may follow in your footsteps”.
We invite you all to join us in prayer – united in heart and soul together with Mary – for the fresh outpouring on us the joyful experience of God.

May the experience and prayers of Mary, lead us to God’s holy Mountain, Christ our Lord. Amen.
