Friendship and God: The Relational Spirituality of Teresa of Ávila
Teresa of Ávila’s life and writings reveal that the journey toward God is never solitary—it is woven through friendship, community, and divine intimacy. This lecture explores how Teresa’s profound capacity for friendship shaped her prayer, leadership, and reforming vision, and how her experience of human and divine relationship became the wellspring of her mystical life. Fr. Mark O’Keefe will guide us through Teresa’s understanding of friendship as a sacred bond that mirrors the very life of God, inviting us to rediscover the transformative power of authentic relationship in our own spiritual path. Through her example, we will glimpse how love, shared honestly and prayerfully, becomes the place where God dwells and where souls are most deeply renewed.
