Description
PIERCED BY LOVE – Seven sorrows. One transforming journey into the heart of Christ through Mary’s pierced heart. Over seven days, we’ll journey through Mary’s Seven Sorrows, discovering that each sorrow is a window into a deeper mystery of Christ. Through her heart, pierced by the sword of compassion, we encounter the wisdom of the Cross, the call to obedient trust, the faithfulness of waiting, and the hope that does not fade.
Rooted in Carmelite spirituality—drawing from St. Teresa of Ávila, St. John of the Cross, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, and St. Edith Stein—this retreat offers both theological depth and contemplative practice.
“Over seven pre-recorded 60-minute sessions accessed via our learning platform, you will encounter the Seven Sorrows, each revealing a facet of Christ’s redemptive love and invites us into deeper surrender:
- 1. Simeon’s Prophecy — The Wisdom of the Cross. From the beginning, Mary is invited into a wisdom that includes the Cross. The sword does not negate the promise—it clarifies the kind of salvation God brings.
- 2. The Flight into Egypt. Trust in the Hidden God. God comes to us not only in light, but in warning; not only in clarity, but in urgency. Mary and Joseph move when called to move, trusting God’s hidden guidance.
- 3. The Loss in the Temple. Faithfulness in Absence. God can be lost—not because He leaves, but because He leads beyond our expectations. Mary searches faithfully, even when God feels absent.
- 4. Meeting on the Way of the Cross. Compassionate Presence. Mary cannot stop what is happening. She can only be present—and this is everything. The ministry of presence when we cannot fix what is broken
- 5. The Crucifixion. Total Self-Gift. Standing by the cross, Mary witnesses the fulfillment of love’s logic: life comes through death, glory through humiliation, victory through surrender.
- 6. The Descent from the Cross. Silence and Descent. The Pietà—Mary holds the lifeless body. No resurrection yet. Only the weight of sacred silence and the ministry of keeping what feels dead.
- 7. The Burial. Hope Beyond Sight. Into the earth, into darkness, into silence. Every seed must be buried before it can rise. Hope that does not depend on what we can see.
