Leave a Gift in your Will

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

James 1:17
Three rows of votive candles in the dark with some of them still burning

A gift in your will is a powerful way to support our work. Family and friends come first, but any gift—large or small—makes a lasting difference.

Even a small percentage of your estate can help sustain the Carmelite Priory and the mission of the Centre for Applied Carmelite Spirituality for years to come.

A gift in a will can be a fixed sum of money (a pecuniary gift) or a portion of your estate (a residuary gift) or a specific item such as an antique, piece of jewellery or a house (specific gift).

If you’d like to leave a gift to the Carmelite Priory in your will, you can use the suggested formal wording below.

Fixed sum of money or specific gift: I give to the Carmelite Priory (registered charity number 207738) of Chilswell, Boars Hill, Oxfordshire, OX1 5HB the sum of £……. (or insert a specific gift) to be used for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the treasurer or authorised officer shall be a complete discharge to my executors.

Residuary gift: I give xx% [insert percentage] of my residuary estate to the Carmelite Priory (registered charity number 207738) of Chilswell, Boars Hill, Oxfordshire, OX1 5HB to be used for its general charitable purposes. I direct that the receipt of the treasurer or authorised officer shall be a complete discharge to my executors.

If you are thinking about leaving a legacy gift, or if you have already made a gift in your will, please email and let us know so that we can thank you and update our records:
