Today, 15 October, we celebrated the Great Solemnity of St Teresa of Jesus, our Holy Mother and Founder, in the city that gave her to the Church.

Everything we had prayed through on the road came together today: the detachment and humility of Toledo, the fountain flowing by night in Segovia, the invitation to friendship at the Incarnation, the gift returned at Alba. Teresa never kept her prayer to herself. She believed that anyone who truly sets out on this path will not reach heaven alone, but will bring others along behind them.

Fr Liam shared words of gratitude and blessing to our pilgrims and to all who have walked with us in prayer this week. We receive them joyfully, and we hold in prayer our brothers and sisters across the Carmelite family who keep this feast with us today.

St Teresa of Jesus, pray for us.

Pause and pray

Who has carried you towards God? Who might the Lord be asking you to carry?

Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you. All things pass; God never changes.
Patience obtains all things. Whoever has God lacks nothing. God alone suffices. — St Teresa of Jesus
