The Eucharist: Source and Summit of Prayer

8th January 2022 (Rescheduled awaiting new date)

2:45pm-4:25pm (UK time) via Zoom

Very truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. At the same time, it is a memorial that brings about and celebrates as well as proclaims the Presence of the beloved who delights to be with us (see Matt 18:20; Luke 22:19, 1 Corinthians 11:24–26). Carmel lives in great depth the mystery of the Eucharist, the hidden presence of the Lord who is with us as Emmanuel, God-with-us; and who walks the journey of life with us as our friend. This presentation explores how the Carmelite experience of prayer disposes us to witness to the world the experience of friendship with the One who invites us to his table and reveals himself “in the breaking of the bread.” (Luke 24:35)
