The Legacy of truth – Daughter: Mary Maravillas of Jesus (1891-1974)

Over four hundred years of her canonization, St Teresa’s spiritual legacy lives on and it has been lived and expressed by her sons and daughters.
It is in this light that the Centre for Applied Carmelite Spirituality (CACS) announces a new spirituality series — THE DAUGHTERS OF ST TERESA —featuring four exceptional Carmelites – Mary Maravillas of Jesus, Mary of Jesus Crucified, Mary of the Angels and Mary of St Joseph, – whose life manifest a particular legacy of St Teresa.
This series will explore their particular gift in the context of their time as well as a Teresian trait in their spiritual experience.
Talk Details:
St. Maravillas of Jesus is one of our recent Carmelite saints. She is greatly venerated in her native Spain but is virtually unknown in English-speaking countries. She lived through the dangers of the Spanish Civil War, even founding several monasteries despite the turmoil. She welcomed the Second Vatican Council and put it into practice in her monasteries. She has been called a Daughter of St. John of the Cross. In our seminar, we will present St. Maravillas as she travelled throughout Spain, founding her monasteries, and also as she travelled through her own interior challenges up the Mount of Carmel.
